Newsletter - 2 - June 2004
Hi All,
For those who are not aware we now have full
charity registration and are in full operation.
Boos spirit is alive and well. We have had
many kind donations over the past year and a huge
amount of support, all of which is going directly
to achieve what Sarah wished for.
Since Boo's Ball we have been working hard
to kick off the next phase of our project in Kenya,
this is now underway with the development of 4 new
classrooms in and area called Kissi, North
West of Nairobi. Vision Africa are supporting
our efforts and doing a great job in supporting
our sponsored children who are back at school for
term one.
John & Vera Packard whom work for VA,
have been establishing community groups with the
locals in Kissi and the project is a joint effort
supported by the local community. In managing the
project this way the community has to put as much
in as we do and the whole thing is aimed at becoming
self sustained by the locals longer-term. The area
of Kissi is in great need of help as education and
opportunity is non existent. Tens of Thousands of
adults in the area have passed away from AIDS or
other diseases leaving many orphaned children.
Our project focuses on a small area and will cope
with about 300 children. The first important
part of building a classroom is not just to teach,
but also to encourage deprived children to a place
where they can not only learn, but receive a square
meal each day, drink clean water and gain support
with any social or medical needs. So you can see
it is far from just schooling in our sense of the
word.
Our main objective beyond just building classrooms
is to obtain enough revenue to help these children
on a daily basis hence, The
Sponsor a Child Project. We
need as many donors as possible to donate between
£5 - £15 per month.
